You travel in a private vehicle with your own driver, at your own pace, with two nights at the edge of the Sahara. Frequently Asked Questions
How cold does it get in the desert at night?
From November to February, nights can drop to 5 degrees Celsius. Desert camps usually provide thick blankets, but we recommend a warm layer, a hat, and closed shoes.
Is the camel ride included?
No. The camel ride is an optional activity that you book and pay on site, usually through your desert camp. If you would rather not ride, most camps offer a 4x4 transfer into the dunes instead.
Are the hotels and the desert camp included in the price?
No. Accommodation is not included, and that covers the desert camp as well as the hotels along the route. You choose, book and pay for them directly, so you decide the level of comfort and the budget. Merzouga has camps for every budget, from simple bivouacs to luxury camps with private tents, real beds and private bathrooms. Your driver takes you to each hotel and to the meeting point of your camp in Merzouga.
Is this tour safe for children?
Yes, it is a popular family trip. We adapt driving times and provide child seats on request, and many desert camps welcome children.
Which vehicle is used for the drive?
Normally a Mercedes V-Class or Vito for the whole route. For larger groups we use a Sprinter minibus. Camps set deep in the dunes usually run their own 4x4 or camel transfer from Merzouga.
Is a local guide included?
No. The local guide is a separate service. Drive Morocco arranges one of the best licensed local guides who speaks your language, from €60 per day.
